Five Capable Versions of Yourself

Five Capable Versions of Yourself

Here is a thought experiment I have been sitting with, and I think it captures something important about where AI is heading that most of the current conversation misses.

Imagine you could have five highly capable versions of yourself, each assigned to a different area of responsibility.

Not copies of your personality — that is not what I mean. Not AI that talks the way you talk or constructs sentences the way you do. Something more valuable: versions that genuinely understand what you are trying to accomplish in each domain, how you make decisions when things are not clear-cut, what standards you hold, what you would be proud of, and — perhaps most importantly — what you would never do.

Five Defined Responsibilities

One focused on marketing, one on operations, one on customer relationships, one on research and strategy, one on financial oversight. Each trusted with a clearly defined responsibility. Each operating with the kind of judgment you would want representing you in that area.

They are not perfect copies of you, and they do not need to be. They simply understand enough about your objectives, values, and limits to act in ways you would recognize as right.

What Changes

Think about what changes in that scenario.

You stop being the bottleneck for everything that requires your judgment — and if you run a business, you know how much of your day that is. Work moves forward in five directions simultaneously instead of queuing behind your availability. Things that currently get missed because you only have one set of eyes and one allotment of attention start getting caught. The range of what you can actually oversee expands without the hours in the day expanding.

This is the practical version of what I mean by Recognizable Intelligence — not one general-purpose AI you interact with occasionally, but multiple specialized extensions of your judgment, each responsible for a defined area, each operating in a way you would recognize as genuinely yours.

Not replacing you. Multiplying you.
